I recently came across this (reverse) applique art from the Kuna people in Panama. Instantly I was attracted to the vibrant bold colours, and the joyful simple designs, especially the sea creatures!
Molas are colourful panels sewn into clothing, especially blouses.

Queen Chi is coming along for fluffy moral support and to aid sales. I hope there won't be too many stray pup hairs in the knik knaks! Got to remember to bring my camera and make a flask of coffee... Here's a snippet - - - http://thelittlelogcabin.wordpress.com/2009/07/25/snippets/

Yesterday I saw a couple of beach bags in a shop, with huge sequinned and stitched sea creatures - - - one, a crab with his arms outstretched; and, a silvery fish. Absolutely eye-catching, sparkly, colourful and fun. So i'm Inspired.....
(I'm working on a seahorse).
;)
P.S. Wish I'd had my camera with me to take shots.

I really think I am addicted to this embroidery thing - - - bought TWO embroidery mags in 2 weeks! WorkBox (because of all the embroidery artists) and now Stitch (because of the tutorials on stitching etc and the most gorgeous Treasure Casket project!).
